Shel Silverstein

Shel Silverstein was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 25, 1930. By 1950, by the time he was 20, Silverstein enlisted in the Army and served in Korea, and Japan. After his term was up, Shel Silverstein worked for multiple magazine companies like Playboy and Sports Illustrated before becoming a very successful poet and artist.
This is Shel Silverstein's most famous work of poetry, which was actually a collection of multiple poems. Some of his other poems were, A Giraffe and a Half, The Missing Piece, The Missing Piece Meets the Big O, and The Giving Tree.
Our Poem
The poem we chose was Hug O' War, "I will not play tug o' war i'd rather play tug o' war where everyone hugs instead of tugs where everyone giggles and rolls on the rug where everyone kisses and everyone grins and everyone cuddles and everyone wins. "
